Please be aware on the NEW Top 50 Winning Web Sites List, the default voting button above will automatically be displayed after you add Top 50 voting code HTML fragment to your page(s) and upload them to your server. Now, there is no longer any need to save this graphic to your hard drive &/or display it as a local file off your site. Below is a smaller standard size (88x31) button you can also use to get votes (but without usual statistics).

Purpose of Top 50 Award Winning Web Sites list

The goal of this Top 50 list remains the same as it was in 1999 - to inspire all talented webmasters to make their website the very best it can be. For web sites that have NOT yet won at least 5 web site design awards, we hope this Top 50 list is an incentive to win 5 awards as required. Take time to apply for some awards, winning is fun!

1. All sites must have already won at least 5 web awards (10+ recommended)!
    They must be 5 different awards (by 5 different judges on 5 different sites).

2. Overall quality of your web site should clearly be higher than the average.

3. Add the Top 50 Award Winning Web Sites award/button in an obvious spot.
    (If not put on the home page, you won't get as many votes as sites who do!)

4. All of your awards should be seen on awards page(s) for easy verification.

5. Site must be kept up to date, within reason (no bad links or missing images).

6. All sites must be safe for All family members to view (Kids OR Grandma)!

7. Sites with illegal, unethical, discriminatory or hate content are not allowed.

8. Have fun! Ask your friends/family (and their friends) to vote for your site!

NOTE: 2 more requirements listed here before have now been eliminated!

BONUS: If your website home page has earned a W3C Badge for either HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) or CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) and you display them so a click runs an instant test, those badges will qualify as up to 2 awards. The Web Design Group Validator can be more difficult to pass, so it qualifies too. If you use all 3, only 2 more awards are needed! (Top 50 button doesn't count.)

Our ranking is displayed according to the number of votes received, with updates to the numbers being made INSTANTLY! Previously, it took up to 24 hours for voting updates to be displayed and votes were NOT reset at the beginning of each new month. This made it hard for new sites to move to the top of the list. NOTE: Countermeasures against cheating now in place are stronger than ever before. Unlike other top site lists, this one has been ongoing since 1999. When first started, it took winning an award rated at 3.0 by Award Sites to be eligible for The Top 50 Award Winning Web Sites List. Later that year, the requirement was changed to simply 5 different awards. As you will see below, over Twenty-Five sites that have been a participant on this list have won over 500 awards! These sites should provide an inspiration to webmasters everywhere. Visit these amazing sites to see how they did it. Regardless if they joined our new system or not, we greatly appreciate their participation.

ALL of the criteria award givers use in deciding whether or not your web site deserves their award should be kept in mind if you want to join us. If your site moves to a new web host, please update your site's info here and be sure the link to your banner ad is still working.

If your site is on a web host that does not allow images to be viewed by remote links (Geocities, Angelfire, Tripod and most other free hosts have done this for example), we now have a way to display a banner for you. Just let me know (e-mail it to me or tell me where I can find it on your site) and I will assist you. We also have a Top 50 Award Winning Web Sites List off-site file archive you can use if needed.
